EDS win at the CAA 2021 Drone Photography Competition

The UK Civil Aviation Authority invited entries to the competition for both commercial and recreation drone users for their best shots of 2021. Sir Stephen Hillier, Chairman hosted an evening at the Royal Aeronautical Society in London’s Mayfair on Tuesday 29 March 2022 to announce the winners.
With over 800 entries, the quality and standard of photography was incredibly high but we are incredibly proud to announce that Esprit Drone Services won top prize in one of the categories.
‘Urban Day’ was a chance to showcase unique aerial photography illustrating an urban environment shot from the air using a drone. Our winning photograph was part of a series of images we took of the huge number of lorries which were held at Manston airport on the runway before being allowed back onto the continent after Brexit.
Andy Betts, Remote Pilot at Esprit Drone Services said “Drones are a way of taking photography up a level, literally! The most interesting part of using drones is to be able to position incredibly high quality cameras in places never before available in a safe, affordable way. Having 20 years experience of photography, this is a huge honour from our UK regulator, the Civil Aviation Authority and having our work on display a the Royal Aeronautical Society for some of aviations top figures to view is a real honour.”
